Highlights from Online Learning Spring 2020
"Found Object" Puppets
All theatre students created a puppet character out of "found objects"! This project required a lot of creativity, imagination, and thinking outside of the box. Below are pictures of some of the great puppets that were created!
Students also wrote and performed puppet monologues or scenes as their puppet character. I love that students are being creative & having fun with this project!
Good News Reports
Advanced & Theatre 2 students drew inspiration from John Krasinski's "Some Good News" videos and made their very own news reports, featuring ONLY good news! Below are some of the great videos turned in.
Fake Food Props
Theatre 1 students learned about how fake food props are made for television, film, & theatre! They were then tasked with creating their own fake food props with items from around their house. Below are some great props that were created!
Costume Memory Monologue Videos
Advanced & Theatre 2 students had the option of a picking an existing favorite character or making up a brand new character. Then, they got to put together a costume for that character from clothing items & accessories around their house. Each costume piece signified something different in terms of that character's personality/background. One costume piece symbolized a special memory to that character. Students wrote a monologue describing the memory, and then recorded themselves performing the monologue. Here are a few fantastic memory videos!
Children's Book Reading Videos
Theatre 1 students were tasked with choosing a children's book to "perform"/read. In addition to reading the children's book, they had to choose a character to read the book as... so they had to read their children's book as a kindergarten teacher, 85-year-old, surfer, cowboy, etc. Below are some of the great videos turned in!
Gracyn's Children's Book Reading as a Kindergarten Teacher
Bella's Children's Book Reading as a Kindergarten Teacher
Dailey's Children's Book Reading as an 85-year-old
Quarantine Music Videos
Advanced & Theatre 2 students were given two options: re-write the lyrics to a Broadway song to fit our current world situation and make a music video for your new song, OR make a lipsync music video to Gloria Gaynor's classic song "I Will Survive." Below are some great submissions!
